CORTONA | ITALY
Baseline studies, preliminary design, final design (architectural, structural and MEP), construction supervision services.
Santa Cristina winery is located on the border of Tuscany and Umbria in Central Italy. It is a strategically placed facility for the Antinoris’ premium wine business. A considerable portion of their entire wine production, around 20 million bottles per year, is refined and aged there, then bottled and dispatched worldwide.
Santa Cristina is impressive in size, featuring 35,000 sqm of floor area and a total building volume, in excess of 250,000 m3. It houses steel tanks with an overall 155,000 hl capacity, with the barriques adding another 20,000 hl.
Notwithstanding its imposing size, the winery is noteworthy for its minimal visual impact. It is camouflaged by a blanket of green grass and shrubbery covered facades, effectively making it blend into the surrounding landscape.
