HYDEA is overseeing the construction of the lean riverbed for the Carrione Torrent in Marina di Carrara, commissioned by the Tuscany Region. Following the design phase, we are now supervising this strategic project, which is based on a  study from the University of Genoa and aimed at reducing hydraulic risk.

The intervention features a suspended canal with reinforced soil embankments and concrete reinforcements. The riverbed is excavated into a trapezoidal shape and lined with cyclopean stones, enhancing flow capacity by lowering the bottom level. This configuration not only optimizes the hydraulic system’s efficiency but also facilitates easier maintenance, preventing the accumulation of coarse materials at the river’s mouth and ensuring a stable riverbed.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
